SpaceX Continues Ambitious Starlink Expansion with Falcon 9 Launch from Vandenberg
SpaceX is scheduled to launch another batch of 28 Starlink internet satellites into low-Earth orbit aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Sunday, September 28, 2025.[1][2][3] This mission, designated Starlink 11-20, will mark another significant step in the expansion of SpaceX's global broadband internet constellation.
The two-stage Falcon 9 rocket is slated to lift off from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg.[1][4] Live coverage of the launch is expected to begin approximately 30 minutes before liftoff, providing real-time updates and video of the ascent.[2] Following a south-easterly trajectory, the Falcon 9's first stage is planned to separate and perform a controlled landing on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship stationed in the Pacific Ocean.[1][4] This will be the 28th flight for this particular first-stage booster, showcasing SpaceX's commitment to reusability.[1][4][5]
The 28 Starlink satellites on board will be deployed into low-Earth orbit about an hour after liftoff.[2] This launch is part of SpaceX's ongoing effort to build out its Starlink megaconstellation, which aims to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access to users worldwide. The company has been aggressively launching new batches of satellites throughout the year to increase coverage and capacity. This mission will be SpaceX's 88th launch in support of its Starlink network in 2025.[2] Residents in the surrounding areas of the launch site, including Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties, may experience sonic booms as the first stage booster returns to Earth.[3][4] The visibility of the launch will be dependent on local weather conditions.
